Milestone as KenTrade partners with World Bank Group to transform border trade in Kenya

The Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) has rolled out Internet and Wi-Fi connectivity to ease clearance of goods and people at Namanga, Busia, Taveta, Malaba, and Isebania border points.

The service, which has also been extended to the cargo section of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the Port of Mombasa is available for the permit issuing and regulatory state agencies and the importers, exporters and Clearing Agents processing their cargo clearance through the online platform, Kenya TradeNet System.

KenTrade Chairman Hon.Suleiman Shahbal hosted the launch event officiated by Trade Secretary Joyce Ogundo who represented the Principal Secretary,State Department of Trade Dr Chris Kiptoo.Speakers included Hon.Shahbal, Sarah Ochieng from World Bank Group/IFC, the Chairman of the umbrella body of clearing and forwarding agent, KIFWA,William Ojonyo, KenTrade CEO,Amos Wangora and Manager Customs at KRA Mr.John Changole and representatives of the Central and County Governments.Chief Executive Officer of  Shippers Council of Eastern Africa Mr Gilbert Langat who is a member of KenTrade Board and also head of the Mombasa Port Community Charter Oversight Board was among the guests.
