What Global Trade Helpdesk means to international trade

The Micro, Small Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) gateway to trade was launched with a view to making trade and market information available and accessible. The user friendly interface will make it easier for micro, small and medium size enterprises increase their participation in regional and inter-national value chains and reduce trade costs.

According to the WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo, the tool provides a single point for information a user will need at no cost and is a big step to-ward reducing the cost of trade and will enable users’ trade with the global market.

The Trade Helpdesk is an online global portal which will improve the quality and transparency of trade-related information, and strengthen public-private dialogue. Building on existing ITC, UNCTAD and WTO services

as well as partner organizations’ information, the Trade Helpdesk aims to support economic ac-tors by providing among other things, a unique entry point to existing trade-related information, translating trade-related information into trade intelligence and raising awareness and capacity of MSMEs on the use of trade information.

The portal is not only for dissemination of information but also about collecting the same. The tool draws data from ITC, UNCTAD and WTO and pulls resources from various international organization. The portal can be accessed at http:// www.helpmetrade.org/
